Stop Following Me
It was his idea to divide everything. Jasper looked up to his brother Jonas, but maybe there’s something wrong with that.
From the book: ““For many years, there’s been sightings in Old Fort, North Carolina near Curtis Creek close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and up around the Geyser. Usually, there’s more than one. Sometimes physical evidence is left behind. This pack is unusual, though, because they come back. It’s best to make peace with them just in case you come face to face with one.”
“Let him turn vinegar into wine if he thought he could.”

My Poem: I Speak North Cackalacky
I speak North Cackalacky
Clanka Lanka
Kakerlake
“tsalaki” (cha-lak-ee)
stuck down here
up here
in the boondocks
in Cackalack
beach
mountains
BBQ sauce
don’t forget the sweet potatoes
Sigogglin’ (crooked not straight)
in the Smoky Mountains
(there’s no E in Smoky)
beware the dingbatters
in the Outer Banks
and you might could
ride your lawnmower to
the grocery store or
ride your tractor to the movies
or move your recliner onto
the front porch just to watch
the lightning bugs or
turn your carport into a living
room with cinder blocks
only in North Cackalacky
yeah, I speak North Cacaklack!

Please check out me explaining North Carolina aka North Cackalacky for my poet friend Rick Lupert for his pop up PR for his new poetry book “The Low Country Shvitz” (poems about Savannah, Charleston, Asheville, Charlotte) here: https://youtu.be/Qzi9vM-6xe4 and then get your own copy of his book (where he brings the humidity not the heat to these wonderful travel poems) here: https://www.poetrysuperhighway.com/rick/about/the-low-country-shvitz/
