SHORT BIO: LB Sedlacek is a poet and writer. She has been nominated twice for a Pushcart Prize and has also been nominated for Best of the Net in poetry. - How do you say my last name? Said LA check
- What genre are you primarily known for? Poetry
- Besides poetry and fiction, what else have you done in writing and publishing? I published a poetry zine called “Pop Poets” as well as “The Poetry Market Ezine.” I have edited poetry manuscripts or poems for poets as well as consulted on book manuscripts for authors. I also have done my share of business writing, marketing and ad copy.
- What are your favorite genres? Poetry and Short Stories
- What do you recommend for new Poets just starting out? Read poems, attend poetry readings, buy local poet chapbooks, and attend open mics.
- What are your hobbies? Swimming, reading, playing the ukulele, traveling
- Were you really a Lifeguard? Yes! I worked part-time as a Lifeguard for fun and because I love to be near a pool.
- What has been your most rewarding experience with writing? Teaching poetry to kids. It’s so rewarding to see their eyes light up as they come up with words, lines and sometimes drawings of their own.
- Did you study with any Poets? Yes, Maya Angelou when I was in Grad school.
- Who are your favorite Poets? Ted Kooser, Nikki Giovanni, Hart Crane, Mary Oliver, Rainer Maria Rilke, Lord Byron, T.S. Eliot, William Carlos Williams, IIya Kaminsky, so many.
